“I’m worth it!”

Instead of buying three inexpensive cotton-blend sweaters, consider one cashmere sweater. Yes, it costs more - but it looks better, feels better, and sets you – and your style – above and apart!

  1. I have to disagree here. Once in a while, I kind of choose quantity over quality. If I can get three nice sweaters at Old Navy for $70, I won't even consider going to to a more expensive store and spending $70 for one measly sweater that looks almost identical. Buying more at a lower price enables you to have more variety in your clothing. Name brands are sooooo overrated.

  2. Well, if the cashmere sweater is a basic color (black, ivory, brown, navy, etc.) I say it's an investment and well worth it.

But if I need something in a "highlighter" color (hot pink, lime green, neon yellow, or whatever trendy or seasonal color), I would opt for the inexpensive ones.

  3. Hello Uabqtpie and Wounded Healer,

    Thanks for your posts!

A cashmere sweater is definitely an investment piece, so it should be a color that never goes out of style. Take the same approach when buying any expensive garment, whether it's a winter coat or a designer handbag.

Today's 'hot' colors and fashion trends will be at the back of your closet in a year; don't spend a bundle on them unless you have money to burn.

To incorporate current colors or styles into your wardrobe, do it with accessories. When today's trendy color becomes yesterday's news, it will be a lot less painful (and less expensive) to part with a scarf, belt or bracelet than a nice cashmere sweater.
